The film premiered in 3D at the 1989 SIGGRAPH convention in Boston.
When the film was attached to the theatrical run of Finding Nemo, the filmmakers modified the size of the two female characters' breasts. In the "Art of Pixar Short Films" book, John Lasseter said that the size reduction was not "...big bad Disney coming in and insisting we do this … it was our own choice. It was just crossing the line for me personally as a father, so I made the decision to reduce (these characters’) breast size.”
